According to Fangoria, they're making sure they will have one extra up on the Dark Sky Ultimate Edition.
Quote:
If you thought Dark Sky's two-DVD release of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE a couple years back truly was the Ultimate Edition…well, David Gregory, a producer/filmmaker who contributed the documentary The Shocking Truth and more to that collection, tells us that one last unturned stone will make its way onto a new British disc.
Severin Films [for which Gregory has worked extensively in recent months] was approached by Second Sight Films, TEXAS CHAINSAW's distributor in the UK, to find out if there was absolutely anyone else left who did not appear on the Ultimate Edition, Gregory tells Fango. "The one guy who played a substantial role in the making of the film who did not feature in either The Shocking Truth or Mike Felsher's Flesh Wounds was Ron Bozman. He was the production manager on the film, as well as taking a few other uncredited odd jobs like occasional assistant director, van driver and dead-animal gravedigger. Bozman went on to a distinguished filmmaking career, which included picking up a Best Picture Oscar as producer of THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS."
Gregory's interview with Bozman, along with all the other Ultimate Edition extras, will appear on Second Sight's new CHAINSAW DVD, which comes out November 3.

Second Sight are doing pretty well these days, in between Picnic At Hanging Rock and the upcoming uncut Last House On The Left. Wonder what else is in the wings?

I'm happy to report that When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth and Moon Zero Two are to be released on the 29th of this month along with another two Warner sets. They will contain:
1. Battle Beneath the Earth + The Ultimate Warrior
2. Moon Zero Two + When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth
3. Satellite in the Sky + World Without End
Here's the bad news though: They are BEST BUY exclusives and having spent £45 on 3 titles via ebay this morning (Man Who Could Cheat Death, The Deadly Bees & Phase IV) I predict more expensive times as I cannot pass up on some much sought after Hammer goodies (although not particularly showing the studio at its best)
Best Buy: Sci-Fi 50'S
Best Buy: Sci-Fi 70'S #1
Best Buy: Sci-Fi 70'S #2
Tom Weaver let the info be known over at the CHFB so thanks to him I am further excited at the news and the realisation that 2008 is most definitely Hammer's year on DVD

91,000 PEOPLE. 33 EXIT GATES. ONE SNIPER.
A brilliant example of edgy 1970s cinema and an oft-overlooked classic of that decade's ‘disaster movie' genre, TWO-MINUTE WARNING is a superbly cast and brilliantly executed thriller that weaves documentary and original action footage into a compelling web of stories concerning a sympathetic array of characters, any one of whom could be the target of an unknown madman preparing to open fire on a crowd of sports fans.
Directed by Larry Peerce (Goodbye Columbus; The Incident), the film's impressive ensemble cast features a host of the era's finest actors including Charlton Heston (Earthquake; The Planet Of The Apes), John Cassavetes (The Dirty Dozen: A Woman Under The Influence), Beau Bridges (The Good German), David Janssen (The Fugitive), Jack Klugman (Quincy M.E.), Gena Rowlands (Gloria; A Woman Under The Influence), Walter Pidgeon (Funny Girl; Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea) and Academy Award winner Martin Balsam (All The President's Men).
A championship football game is underway in front of a sell-out crowd at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. As the action unfolds on the field, a lone gunman, hidden high above the scoreboard, has his sights set on the unsuspecting football fans and is biding his time waiting for the moment when he can open fire on the crowd.
When a TV crew covering the game spots the potential killer via a camera positioned on the Goodyear blimp, LAPD Captain Peter Holly (Charlton Heston) and SWAT Sergeant Chris Button (John Cassavetes) are called in to attempt to neutralise the sniper's threat without causing widespread panic by evacuating the stadium and alerting the public. With the clock ticking down to the game's final two-minute warning, the two men find themselves in a tense and desperate race against time to save the lives of countless innocent victims.
A taut and unsettling film that intelligently considers the nature of violence, TWO-MINUTE WARNING is also an edge-of-your-seat thriller that gradually builds to an astonishing final twenty minutes of action as fates are decided in a brutal showdown.
TWO-MINUTE WARNING (cert. 15) will be released on DVD (£15.99) by Nouveaux Pictures on 1st September 2008.

ALAN RUDOLPH'S CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED CULT CRIME DRAMA REMASTERED AND FEATURING A BRAND NEW INTERVIEW WITH RUDOLPH AND STAR KEITH CARRADINE.
Robert Altman protégé Alan Rudolph's critically acclaimed, cult neo-noir crime drama TROUBLE IN MIND comes to DVD this July, digitally remastered from a restored print and featuring a brand new interview with Rudolph and star Keith Carradine.
Written and directed by Rudolph (Breakfast Of Champions; Equinox; Mrs. Parker And The Vicious Circle; The Moderns) and starring Kris Kristofferson (Fast Food Nation; The Jacket; the Blade trilogy), Keith Carradine (Dexter; Mrs. Parker And The Vicious Circle; The Moderns), Lori Singer (Short Cuts; Equinox; Fame), Genevieve Bujold (Dead Ringers; The Moderns; Choose Me), Joe Morton (American Gangster; The Night Listener) and Divine (Hairspray; Polyester; Pink Flamingos), TROUBLE IN MIND is a hyper-stylised vision set in a mythical American city during an unspecified era that could equally be the past or the future.
Recently released from prison after serving an eight-year stretch for killing a mob boss, ex-cop Hawk (Kristofferson) returns to his native home of Rain City and takes up residence in a room at the back of the café owned and run by his former lover Wanda (Bujold). At the same time, a beautiful waif-like young woman, Georgia (Singer), her sociopathic boyfriend, Coop (Carradine), and their new-born child also arrive in their trailer and make the café's parking lot their temporary home.
Desperately in need of money, Georgia takes on a waitressing job at Wanda's place while Coop slowly but surely is lured into a life of petty crime. Already a regular customer at the café, Hawk soon falls under Georgia's spell and sets out to seduce her during the lonely nights that Coop is not around. Meanwhile, Coop's criminal activities have attracted the attention of gangland boss Hilly Blue (Divine), a ruthless crimelord whose method of dealing with freelance crooks operating on his turf extends to drowning them in their cars. When Coop's life is threatened by Hilly and his men, Hawk finds himself in a position where he must decide to put his own life on line by helping him or risk losing the woman he most desires.
Humorously and stylistically employing the classic film noir themes of crime, responsibility, loyalty and love, Rudolph's film presents a refreshingly original take on the genre, one that is brilliantly enhanced by composer Mark Isham's (In The Valley Of Elah; The Black Dahlia; Crash) superbly evocative score.
TROUBLE IN MIND (cert. 15) will be released on DVD (£17.99) by Nouveaux Pictures on 4th August 2008.
Special Features include widescreen presentation and ‘Minding Trouble' - a brand new interview with Alan Rudolph and Keith Carradine.

Fango have the news...
Quote:
|
Filmmaker/DVD producer David Gregory gave Fango the scoop that he and Severin Films will give the Barbara Steele-starring Italian chiller NIGHTMARE CASTLE its first official DVD release, following the discovery of the original negative in Rome, and provided the first peek at the cover art. The 1965 film, a.k.a. THE FACELESS MONSTER and LOVERS FROM BEYOND THE TOMB and directed/co-written by Mario Caiano, casts Steele as the unfaithful wife of a doctor, who tortures her and her lover to death, and the victims twin sister, whom the doctor later marries and subsequently suffers from frightening visions of murder.
